Young Professionals Program

ma
Global Center YP's with Former Secretary of State, Madeline Albright

Our Young Professionals Program (YPP) brings together globally focused and like-minded individuals to promote a greater awareness and appreciation of international issues and their relevance to our community.

They are hip, fun, trendy and interested in international affairs. The Global Center provides venues for Career Development Breakfasts, International Happy Hours, and Potluck Discussion Dinners - all geared to recruiting and retaining a young workforce that has "international on the brain".

Who Qualifies as a YP?

A YP member is a Global Center member who is in their 20's through 40's and has chosen to be a part of the YP Program. S/he is a member of the Council either individually or because his/her corporation/firm/organization is already a member.

YP members are encouraged to join at least one working committee. Some of our YP members are on the steering committee for One World Wednesdays (Which the World Affairs Council Co-Sponsors) and also participate in the Global Center's weekly Radio Program "WORLDVIEW" on WMKV 89.3FM.

WorldQuest Competition

Our Young Professionals plan the annual competition - "WorldQuest". WorldQuest is the ultimate trivia competition pitting Cincinnati's companies against each other.

WorldQuest is not just a trivia competition, but an international experience. We hit different regions of the world in a single room. Salsa dancers, African drummers, European beer...the quest starts from Australia, through the United States to Zimbabwe...all in an exhilarating quest to see who emerges as the "best of the quest".

What Have They Done in the Past?

In the past, our Young Professionals have, among other events:

  • Participated in the 2007 Downtown HopAround
  • Hosted Potluck dinners and discussions with groups of international visitors here to study ways to combat human trafficking (representing Germany, Jamaica, Albania, Kosovo, Madagascar, Yemen, Nigeria, and Sri Lanka.) See photos
  • participated in the annual Cincinnati/USA regional chamber's Bold Fusion
  • Co-sponsored with LEGACY, the 4th Congressional District Debate between Ken Lucas and Geoff Davis in 2006
  • Participated in the Freedom Center's Freedom YP series
  • Participated in the Bankers Club "InCync Community Night"
  • Provided professional development breakfasts
  • arranged numerous other activities including kayaking and hikes.
